Position Summary Awning Works Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant with strong construction accounting expertise to join our Finance team in a full-time onsite role. This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who understands the complexities of construction-related accounting, including AIA billing, job costing, subcontractor management, and general contractor contracts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing day-to-day accounting operations while supporting accurate financial reporting and process improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Construction & Project Accounting Manage and oversee AIA billing processes, including preparation, submission, and tracking of payment applications Review and maintain compliance with general contractor (GC) contracts and subcontractor agreements Track project costs, retainage, change orders, and job profitability Support project managers with cost reporting and financial analysis Monitor WIP schedules and assist with revenue recognition processes Coordinate lien waivers, insurance certificates, and project-related financial documentation Accounting Operations Lead and assist with month-end and year-end close activities Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaids, amortizations, and fixed assets Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations including bank accounts, credit cards, inventory, and intercompany accounts Maintain accurate general ledger records and financial schedules Perform variance analysis and research discrepancies Support AP, cash management, and vendor reconciliations Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and operational efficiency Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or project-based industries Strong experience with AIA billing, retainage tracking, and construction accounting processes Familiarity with GC contracts, subcontractor billing, and project cost accounting Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles Hands-on experience with reconciliations, AP, cash management, and month-end close Advanced Excel skills and strong experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO); Ramp experience is a plus Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills Why Join Us Opportunity to play a key role in a growing organization Collaborative and supportive team environment High visibility across operations and finance Opportunity to improve and build scalable accounting processes Stable, family-owned company with long-standing industry reputation Bring your construction accounting expertise to a company where your experience and contributions will make a direct impact.
