Job Description

We seek a detail-oriented and motivated Project Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of project and fund accounting practices, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The Project Accountant will handle the organization's daily financial and accounting tasks, including data processing, journal entries, report preparation, reconciliations, maintenance of Accounts Receivable/Payables and the General Ledger, and other clerical and administrative activities. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the organization's overall financial health. The Project Accountant will report directly to the V.P. of Finance and Compliance. DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting. Responsible for reviewing and reconciling large volumes of expenditure reports. Tracking and reporting on grant funds and ensuring compliance with grant guidelines. Assisting in preparing grant proposals, budgets, and financial forecasts. Conduct account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of ledgers and financial data. Assisting in preparing various financial reports (liquidity reports, balance sheets, income statements, etc.) Maintaining the organization's liquidity report allocated per fund. Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations. Assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Handling office clerical and administrative tasks. Ability to review and reconcile payroll data distribution and allocation. Providing support to other departments within the organization. Performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Work Experience:
At least 2-4 years of experience working in accounting. Experience in the non-profit sector required. Experience in grant and project accounting practices required Proven experience in general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation. Proficiency in using accounting software; experience with Financial Edge/Sage preferred. Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Satisfactory background check. Ability to stand and sit for extended periods. Documentation that verifies identity and employability in the United States. Proof of any diplomas or degrees indicated as a job qualification. Two completed reference forms. Access to reliable transportation.
TRAVEL:
This position will require approximately 25% travel.
NOTE:
This position is entirely or largely grant-funded and is therefore subject to funding availability.
