About Terbo Construction Terbo Construction is a growing commercial general contractor serving the Tampa Bay area. We are a close-knit, team-oriented company focused on delivering quality projects while maintaining strong financial discipline and operational efficiency. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a hands-on Controller to strengthen our internal accounting operations and support leadership with accurate, timely financial insight. Position Overview This role serves as the primary internal accounting lead for the company and is responsible for both day-to-day accounting execution and financial oversight. The Controller will work closely with an outsourced bookkeeping partner that handles month-end close and financial statement preparation, ensuring accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining strong financial controls. This is a hands-on role in a small company environment, ideal for someone who is comfortable managing both operational accounting tasks and higher-level financial responsibilities. What You'll Do Accounting & Financial Oversight Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations and financial tracking Coordinate with outsourced bookkeeping partner on month-end and year-end close and reporting Review financial statements for accuracy and alignment before leadership review Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and financial obligations Maintain job costing and construction-related financial processes Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Accounts Payable & Receivable Own the full-cycle accounts payable process (invoice coding, entry, payments) Oversee accounts receivable, billing coordination, collections, and aging Maintain lien waivers, Notice to Owners, and subcontractor compliance documentation Partner with project managers to address outstanding receivables Compliance & Reporting Coordinate documentation for audits and insurance reporting Oversee sales tax filings and regulatory compliance Manage licensing, registrations, and insurance administration Support year-end processes with external CPA Operations & Process Improvement Evaluate and improve accounting workflows and internal controls Maintain organized financial records and documentation Serve as the primary liaison between operations and outsourced accounting partner What We're Looking For 5+ years of accounting experience (construction industry strongly preferred) Strong understanding of job costing, AR/AP, and construction financial processes Experience working in a small business or lean accounting environment Comfortable being hands-on in day-to-day accounting tasks Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Excel and accounting software Strong communication skills across teams and external partners Why This Role Is Unique Hands-on leadership role with direct impact on company operations Opportunity to help improve and shape financial processes Collaborative, team-oriented environment Stable, growing company in the commercial construction space Additional Requirements Valid Florida driver's license Ability to work onsite full-time in

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
