MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum of three years of experience in accounting or fiscal management Proficiency with accounting software and Excel Strong knowledge of GAAP Must be proficient in operating a computer and standard Microsoft Office products Experience working in a school district preferred

JOB GOAL
The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This role involves data entry, reconciliations, maintaining accounting records, processing accounts payable, recording receivables, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Record daily financial transactions in accounting software. Process accounts payable, cash receipts, and receivables, including invoice entry, payment posting, and reconciliation. Verify the accuracy of financial data and resolve discrepancies. Reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Maintain organized files and records of all financial transactions. Oversee the system's credit card program, including monthly reconciliations. Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll as needed. Prepare basic financial reports as requested by management. Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed. Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of School System accounting practices and procedures preferred. Skills in the operation of computer terminals and other standard office machines. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy. Ability to work with numerical data and to maintain attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with governmental agencies, school personnel, and vendors. Ability to maintain accounting files, records, and reports. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires working indoors and outdoors in various weather-related conditions. Requires sitting, standing, walking, and moving about during the day, as well as the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
