Miami Shores Country Club is a historic South Florida gem that blends timeless design with modern playability. Originally opened in 1939 and designed by renowned architects Robert "Red" Lawrence and Louis Wilson, this classic 18-hole championship course has hosted prestigious events like the Florida State Open. Set among mature oak trees and scenic fairways, the course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience. Located less than 15 minutes from downtown Miami and Miami International Airport, the club delivers unmatched accessibility alongside a full suite of amenities—including a driving range, pool, dining, and event spaces—making it both a premier golf destination and a vibrant community hub. Position Summary Assists the General Manager and Regional Controller with implementation and coordination of accounting, auditing, budgets, taxes and related activities and records. Prepares financial statements and assists with analyses and interpretation. Maintains all accounting and financial records. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assist with preparing, verifying and disseminating monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, statistical analyses and accounting reports as necessary and appropriate for club management, the Home Office, clients, outside agencies and appropriate trade and professional organizations.
  • Assist with implementing internal auditing programs to safeguard company assets, assure that records are accurately maintained and that established policies and practices are consistently followed. Work with external auditors to assure that procedures are consistent with company policies.
  • Participate in and verify the taking of various inventories for beverages, food, supplies, merchandise, equipment, furnishings, etc. Prepare inventory work sheet and cross check prices with invoice prices.
  • Perform bookkeeping function including maintaining accurate records of all transactions. Maintain a sales journal, charge journal, check register, bank reconciliation, accounts receivable file, accounts payable file, inventory log, general journal, payroll log, excise tax report, and depreciation account file.
  • Collect all cash and receipts from all cash registers and make bank deposits. Perform daily reconciliation of point of sale revenues, tax liabilities, cost of goods sold, cash and charge receipts. Prepare the cash report and reconcile bank statements.
  • Manage the petty cash and operating cash fund.
  • Perform accounts payable/receivable functions including managing purchase orders, auditing and paying vendor invoices, managing credit memos to vendors, posting invoices to proper accounts, reconciling invoices, purchase orders and expense reports, and administering the billing and collection of member and/or pass-holder dues.
  • Maintain vendor files including credit applications, purchase orders, invoice payments, credit memos, etc. Prepare and maintain a vendor master list.
  • Maintain employment records including time and attendance, absentee and leave records. Maintain confidential personnel files.
  • Prepare payroll and all payroll-related tax returns and reports. Verify payroll information and distribute checks to club personnel. Work with Home Office payroll department to correct payroll problems.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax reports and excise tax reports. Deposit all federal, state and municipal taxes on a timely basis.
  • Maintain records of all insurance policies, business licenses, liquor licenses, certificates of operation.
  • Serve as the club specialist on all matters related to computer applications.
  • Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related reports.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate. Education/Qualifications/Certifications
  • High school required. College degree preferred.
  • 2 years accounting experience, preferably in the golf industry.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
