Job DescriptionJob Description Staff Accountant - Grants Monitoring & Reporting Position Summary The Staff Accountant - Grants Monitoring & Reporting is responsible for supporting the financial administration of grants and funded programs by monitoring expenditures, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting with audits and budget tracking. This position works closely with program managers, finance staff, and external funding agencies to ensure accurate and timely reporting of grant-related financial information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding agreements, budgets, and applicable regulations. Prepare and submit financial reports for federal, state, county, city, and private grants in a timely manner. Track grant budgets, allocations, and spending to ensure funds are utilized appropriately. Reconcile grant-related general ledger accounts and maintain supporting documentation. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes related to grants. Review invoices, payroll allocations, and expenses charged to grants for accuracy and allowability. Maintain organized grant files, including contracts, amendments, budgets, reports, and correspondence. Assist in preparing documentation requested during audits, monitoring visits, and financial reviews. Coordinate with program departments to ensure expenditures are properly coded and supported. Assist with budget modifications, grant renewals, and funding applications as needed. Monitor reporting deadlines and ensure timely submission of all required reports and supporting documents. Help identify and resolve discrepancies related to grant billing, reimbursements, and expenditures. Support compliance with organizational policies and procedures as well as funding agency requirements. Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant accounting. Knowledge of grant management, financial reporting, and compliance requirements preferred. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel required. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments. Preferred Experience Experience working with nonprofit organizations and government-funded programs. Familiarity with federal, state, and local grant regulations. Experience preparing supporting documentation for audits and monitoring reviews.
