Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing CPA firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple clients, performing monthly bookkeeping services, preparing financial reports, assisting with tax and audit engagements, and supporting our accounting team in delivering exceptional client service. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working with a variety of industries, thrives in a fast-paced public accounting environment, and possesses strong technical accounting and bookkeeping skills. Key ResponsibilitiesBookkeeping & Accounting Perform daily bookkeeping functions for multiple client accounts. Record and classify financial transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and other accounting software. Prepare and post journal entries. Maintain general ledgers and supporting schedules. Perform monthly bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations. Analyze general ledger activity and investigate discrepancies. Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records. Process payroll transactions and payroll-related reconciliations. Assist with fixed asset schedules, depreciation calculations, and loan amortization schedules. Financial Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Generate management reports and financial analyses. Review client financial information for accuracy and completeness. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Tax & Compliance Support Assist with preparation of workpapers for business and individual tax returns. Prepare sales tax, payroll tax, and other compliance filings. Support tax planning and tax resolution engagements. Maintain organized electronic workpapers and client documentation. Audit, Review & Compilation Support Assist with compilations, reviews, agreed-upon procedures, and audit engagements. Prepare lead schedules and supporting documentation. Assist in responding to auditor requests and preparing confirmations. Support implementation of internal control procedures and documentation. Client Service Communicate professionally with clients regarding accounting and bookkeeping matters. Request missing documentation and resolve accounting discrepancies. Provide timely updates on client engagements and deadlines. Build strong client relationships while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. QualificationsRequired Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Strong understanding of accounting principles, debits and credits, and financial statement preparation. Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Preferred Experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment. Knowledge of
U.S. GAAP.
Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax filings. Familiarity with Drake Tax, UltraTax, CCH, ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms. Experience supporting tax, audit, review, or compilation engagements. Technical Skills QuickBooks Online QuickBooks Desktop Microsoft Excel (Intermediate to Advanced) Microsoft Office Suite ADP, Paychex, or other payroll platforms Drake Tax, UltraTax, or similar tax software Cloud-based accounting applications and document management systems Desired Characteristics Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
