Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing bookkeeping firm. This role requires a professional who excels not only in managerial accounting but also in clear, consistent, and effective communication with both clients and internal staff. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with a proactive, "can-do" attitude, strong system expertise, familiar with managing multiple companies spanning over multiple industries, strong knowledge of corporate tax, and a commitment to maintaining rigorous checks and balances to minimize errors. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple clients across various industries Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, communicating financial information clearly and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner Collaborate closely with internal staff to ensure alignment, accuracy, and efficient workflow across all accounts Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial records Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data through strong internal controls and review processes Implement and maintain checks and balances to reduce errors and improve reporting reliability Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and client use Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff; provide clear guidance and constructive feedback Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively, communicating issues and solutions effectively Assist with process improvements and system optimization within the firm Support and/or assist in the preparation of tax filings and coordinate with tax professionals as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a client-service environment Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop Accounting Software) Experience with Drake Tax Software preferred Strong understanding of general accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices with a strong focus in reconciliation, establishing and operating within a rule-based system and to ensure the reduction of errors Experience preparing tax filings (specifically corporate tax returns) is desired Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively Required Core Competencies Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) - this is a must-have for success in this role Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-accounting clients Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with team members at all levels High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and error reduction Proactive problem-solving mindset with a positive, "can-do" attitude Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment What Success Looks Like in This Role Clear, consistent, and professional communication with clients and team members Highly accurate financial reporting with minimal errors due to strong checks and balances Strong client relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and clarity Smooth internal coordination and improved team efficiency Positive contribution to team culture and overall firm performance Opportunity for advancement of duties and role classification

$52,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
