Job Description
Position Summary Custom Manufacturing and Engineering Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong manufacturing accounting experience to support our growing operations. This role will own general ledger activity, support month end close, and help maintain accurate GAAP compliant financial records in a manufacturing environment. The position will also support cost accounting activities including overhead allocation, inventory accounting, and production cost analysis. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accountant who understands how accounting supports manufacturing operations and can work comfortably within a structured compliance environment. Experience with government contracting is helpful but not required. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Accounting Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules Prepare journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year end close Support inventory accounting and reconciliation Assist with work in progress tracking and valuation Analyze production costs and manufacturing variances Support allocation of direct and indirect manufacturing costs Financial Reporting Assist in preparation of GAAP compliant financial statements Generate financial reports and performance metrics using Excel Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed Cost Accounting Support Assist with calculation of indirect rates including overhead and G&A Support cost accounting structures in a manufacturing environment Maintain accurate cost allocations across programs and production Compliance and Audit Support Maintain organized accounting documentation and audit support files Support external audits and financial reviews as needed Assist with accounting activities in a government contracting environment when applicable Required Qualifications Manufacturing accounting experience Three or more years of accounting experience with general ledger responsibility Experience participating in month end close Strong journal entry and reconciliation experience Solid Excel skills Preferred Experience Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Inventory accounting or work in progress accounting Government contracting or defense industry exposure Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards or DCAA environments Experience with COGNOS reporting tools Hiring Process As part of our selection process, candidates who advance will complete the Predictive Index Cognitive and Behavioral Assessments.
