Position Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization s manufacturing and corporate accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with internal controls, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of inventory and plant-level financial data, analyzing production costs, and supporting business decisions through timely variance and margin analysis.
Key Responsibilities Inventory & Cost Accounting Support:
Assist with monitoring and reconciling inventory accounts, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Participate in standard cost roll-ups and review the accuracy of the Bill of Materials (BOM). Variance & Margin Analysis:
Analyze and report on manufacturing variances (including labor, material usage, and overhead yield). Provide insights into gross margins and production cost discrepancies. Month-End & Year-End Close:
Prepare and post manufacturing-related journal entries, accrue plant expenses, and reconcile balance sheet accounts. Ensure a timely and accurate closing cycle. Compliance & Internal Controls:
Maintain and adhere to internal controls (such as SOX compliance, if applicable) and GAAP guidelines. Assist with establishing and auditing physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs. Audit & Plant Support:
Partner with the plant management team to provide financial clarity on operational performance. Compile requested schedules and documentation for external and internal auditors. Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience:
1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing or distribution environment. Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Index/Match). Experience working with manufacturing ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, IQMS, or Microsoft Dynamics). Core Competencies:
Solid understanding of standard costing systems and general GAAP guidelines. strong conceptual understanding of inventory flows and overhead allocation methods. Exceptional attention to detail and sharp analytical skills to spot data anomalies. Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and plant floor operators. salary:
