Job Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN ACCOUNTANT I
The Accountant I role involves accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records and controls. The ideal candidate for Accountant I should possess knowledge of accounting principles and procedures particularly as they relate to public financial administration. Demonstrate relevant career experience in the maintenance of accounting records, computer spreadsheets, and database programs. Analyzes statistical, fiscal, and payroll records and reports of the department to determine the cost of operations of various activities. Participates in the routine accounting functions of posting, balancing and preparation of special reports. Assists in the preparation of budget estimates and reviews encumbrances as to availability of funds. Performs a wide variety of clerical/accounting-related tasks. Performs related work as required. Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures particularly as they relate to public financial administration. Ability to apply such knowledge to accounting transactions and resolve related problems. Ability to identify trends and provide forecasts of a statistical nature. Knowledge of modern office machines, methods and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain accounting records. Ability to prepare complete accounting reports and statements. Ability to acquire knowledge of the legal administrative and procedural regulations applicable to the department of assignment. Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets and database files.PHYSICAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. One (1) year of experience in the maintenance of accounting records. One (1) year experience working with computers, spreadsheets and database programs. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Outlook required.For In-house applicants:
