In this vital role, you will oversee all accounting activities related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with financial standards and supporting project teams with accurate financial data. Your expertise will help optimize project budgets, manage cash flow, and ensure precise financial reporting, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality construction initiatives. Duties Tracking budget vs. actual costs by job, cost code, vendor, and phase Reviewing POs, vendor bills, subcontractor invoices, and change orders against the approved budgets Monitoring project schedules and making sure jobs are staying on track Identifying jobs that are falling behind schedule or trending over budget Maintaining cost-to-complete projections for each job Working directly with the PMs to make sure costs are accurate, coded correctly, and align with the project schedule Helping with client billing based on progress, prior invoicing, budget status, and scheduled work Reporting which jobs are on track, over budget, under budget, behind schedule, or at risk Being able to work in a fast-paced environment and pivot quickly when priorities changeManage project-specific accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries using ERP systems such as SAP or Xero. Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards. Prepare and interpret financial reports, including cash flow analyses, budget variance reports, and project cost summaries to support decision-making. Perform cost management activities by monitoring project expenses, conducting forecast updates, and implementing cost control measures. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to gather data for financial report writing, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts. Reconcile accounts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger regularly to maintain data integrity across systems like Sage or QuickBooks. Requirements Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting within the construction or related industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting concepts. Proficiency with accounting software QuickBooks. Expertise in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial analysis techniques. Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and account analysis efficiently. Experience with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and cost management strategies for large-scale projects. Excellent data collection skills combined with attention to detail in financial report interpretation. Strong understanding of payroll processing within a construction or corporate setting.
