Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a well-established organization in Florida and help manage day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities and account structures. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who enjoys balancing detailed transactional work with financial reporting and close support. In this role, you will collaborate with leadership, the Treasurer, and an external accounting partner to keep records accurate, strengthen accounting workflows, and deliver timely financial information.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage general ledger activity across multiple accounts and entities, ensuring financial data remains complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and contribute to monthly close activities to support reliable period-end reporting.
  • Compile and review monthly financial statements, researching variances and resolving inconsistencies as they arise.
  • Record billing activity, expenses, and other financial transactions in QuickBooks Online on a consistent weekly basis.
  • Review bank activity for checking and savings accounts and complete reconciliations to maintain cash accuracy.
  • Track purchase orders, reimbursements, and operating expenses to support internal reporting and financial oversight.
  • Coordinate with a third-party accounting provider to assist with close processes and the preparation of recurring financial reports.
  • Develop monthly reporting summaries and presentation materials for leadership and board-level review.
  • Support payroll processing and related reconciliations while assisting with finance committee reporting needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and help reinforce effective financial controls and documentation practices. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility in day-to-day financial operations.
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close support.
  • Background in managing or substantially supporting general ledger activity.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize data, create reports, and perform basic analysis.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues independently.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation or review, payroll processing, or tax-related accounting such as corporate tax or sales tax is preferred.
