Job Description

Staff Accountant Location:
Wellington, FL 33414
Salary:
$70,000 per year

Three weeks of vacation annually 100% employer-covered medical, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability benefits We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with advanced Excel skills and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to handle a large volume of tasks, and have a hands-on approach to getting the job done. As a Staff Accountant , you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, tracking the organization's assets, liabilities, profits, losses, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general cost accounting and related duties. Process accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P). Maintain the general ledger by recording entries and managing files. Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books. Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks. Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. Manage accounts receivable collections. Verify and complete payment of invoices related to accounts payable, ensuring appropriate account charging. Assist outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documents for the annual audit. Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and update the accounting software system. Manage the purchasing and invoicing system. Stay current on accounting practices and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Skills & Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. In-depth knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to prepare tax reports correctly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Experience with accounting software.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required. Three to five years of experience in a private industry tax accounting capacity. Experience with month-end accruals, bank reconciliations, and journal entries required. Experience with cost accounting is highly preferred. Experience in a CPA firm.
