We are looking for a property accountant to join our team. The property accountant will handle various accounting tasks related to residential property management, including processing bills/invoices, depositing rent payments, creating monthly and annual income statements, utility bill prorations, and receiving and refunding security deposits. Over the first 6-8 months the property accountant will gain a broader understanding of the company by working in some administrative and customer service capacities, such as answering the phones, receiving guests at the office, and assisting the property managers and the maintenance coordinator. The goal is to have a wider understanding of how we operate before fully focusing on bookkeeping duties by the end of the 6-8 months. The property accountant should be trustworthy, highly organized, good with numbers, detail oriented, a fast learner, able to multitask, prioritize effectively, reliable, punctual, and work well in a fast paced work environment. Education:
Associate's degree or college experience required, or credentials such as an EA.
Requirements:

Experience:
Experience in bookkeeping/accounting is a plus, preferably in property management. Familiarity with property management software (Appfolio a plus) or other Customer Relationship Management software. Background working in customer service is a plus. Knowledge of Real Estate or property maintenance is a plus. Background in property management is a plus, but NOT required.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Ability to copy, scan and upload documents online. Assist in documentation, organization and filing.

Primary duties:
Process bills and invoices, along with matching Service Orders. Create, review, and publish monthly owner statements. Assist in preparing and issuing 1099's to vendors and property owners in January annually. Create, review, and issue annual year end statements. Enter new vendors into our CRM Appfolio. Work with Lead Bookkeeper and Accountant to prepare corporate tax returns. Account for security deposit deductions and issue security deposit refunds. Assist in bank reconciliations. Process Rent payments. Prepare bank deposits for rent payments and security deposit payments. Produce vendor checks for bills and invoices. Generate owner checks for rental disbursements. Assemble owner ACH deposits for monthly rent disbursements. Allocate credit card bills to corporate and property purchases. Mail checks and statements to vendors and owners. Assist Maintenance Coordinator with closing out invoices weekly. Assist with office projects. Ensure accuracy of information concerning properties and tenants. Manage and monitor accounts payable aging. Field payment questions and calls from vendors. Research and resolve account discrepancies. Review expense ledgers.
Secondary/Temporary Duties:
Answer phones Office admin duties. Setting up viewings. Answering general inquiries regarding availability. Key inventory audits. Inventory audits.
Condition of Employment:
A satisfactory outcome of criminal background verification may be required prior to hire.
