This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and has strong experience with retail operations, cash management, financial reporting, and tax compliance. The CPA will work closely with ownership and leadership to ensure financial accuracy, improve operational efficiency, and provide strategic insights that drive business growth. Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage accounting for multiple gas station and retail shopping center entities. Oversee general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes. Review daily sales, fuel revenue, convenience store revenue, tenant income, and cash deposits for accuracy. Monitor inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and fuel margin reporting. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting. Coordinate payroll accounting and ensure accurate payroll tax reporting. Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns while maintaining compliance with all applicable tax regulations. Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions. Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models for existing locations and future acquisitions. Analyze operating expenses, occupancy costs, and profitability by location. Assist with acquisitions, new store openings, and financial due diligence for potential investments. Establish and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures. Prepare management reports and provide recommendations to improve operational and financial performance. Preferred Experience Multi-location retail accounting Gas station or convenience store accounting Commercial real estate or shopping center accounting Property management financial reporting Inventory and fuel accounting Cash-intensive business operations Multi-entity accounting structures Qualifications Active CPA license required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's preferred). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or corporate finance. Experience managing accounting for retail, gas stations, convenience stores, or commercial real estate portfolios preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance. Experience with general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple entities and priorities while meeting deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership and operations teams.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$80,000 - $120,000 annually, based on experience
