Full-Time, Hybrid Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join a growing public accounting firm in Boston, MA. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, managing client engagements, and providing tax planning and consulting services to individuals and businesses. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in public accounting tax, experience with a variety of entity types, and the ability to work independently while mentoring junior staff. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 . Manage tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and closely held businesses. Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive recommendations to clients. Conduct tax research and analyze complex tax issues to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities. Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide coaching, training, and mentorship. Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer tax-related questions, and address tax notices. Assist with year-end tax planning, estimated tax calculations, and consulting projects. Monitor changes in federal and state tax laws and evaluate their impact on clients. Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Collaborate with managers and partners on client service initiatives and special projects. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred. 3-7+ years of public accounting tax experience required. Strong experience preparing and reviewing 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 tax returns. Knowledge of federal and multi-state tax compliance and planning. Experience working with closely held businesses, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals preferred. Proficiency with tax preparation, accounting, and research software. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Prior experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior staff is a plus. Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary plus bonus opportunities.
