Full Job Description Payroll Accountant Location:
North of Atlanta Compensation:
$70,000•$75,000 + full benefits CFS is partnered with a stable, team-oriented organization seeking a Payroll Accountant to join their accounting team. This Payroll Accountant position is ideal for an experienced staff accountant with strong payroll ownership who enjoys a balanced mix of accounting and payroll responsibilities in a collaborative, low-overtime environment. The Payroll Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and work closely with leadership, making this a highly visible role with impact across both accounting and payroll functions. Payroll & HR-Related Duties Process bi-weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness as the lead Payroll Accountant Record payroll-related journal entries and maintain payroll-related accounts Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Reconcile payroll taxes and support year-end reporting (W-2s, etc.) Manage payroll deductions including benefits and 401(k) contributions Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies Assist with onboarding/offboarding and employee documentation (training provided) Support 401(k) funding, reconciliations, and annual audit Partner with leadership on employee relations and annual performance review processes Accounting Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries, including accrals and adjustments Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances Assist with month-end and year-end close Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial reporting Prepare audit schedules and assist with external audits Reconcile company credit cards and vendor accounts Support accounts payable, including import and freight invoice processing Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered) 5+ years of accounting experience
Required:
Hands-on payroll processing experience and experience booking payroll journal entries Experience supporting payroll for ~100+ employees strongly preferred ERP or payroll system experience Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a dual-role Payroll Accountant position Why This Payroll Accountant Role?
