Job Description

Project Accountant A growing and well-established General Contractor is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join its team. This individual will play a key role in supporting project financial operations by managing billing, accounts payable, project documentation, and subcontractor compliance. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment while collaborating closely with Project Managers, vendors, subcontractors, and the accounting team. Responsibilities Prepare and submit progress billings and owner invoices in accordance with contract requirements Process AIA billings and maintain supporting documentation Track accounts receivable activity and assist with collection efforts as needed Ensure invoices and billings are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices for payment Verify cost coding and ensure proper approvals are obtained Maintain subcontractor compliance records, including Certificates of Insurance, W-9s, and lien waivers Respond to vendor and subcontractor inquiries regarding payments and account status Work closely with Project Managers and accounting personnel to support project success Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members Assist with process improvements and help maintain consistency across project accounting functions Provide timely support for project-related financial inquiries Qualifications Previous experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or a related accounting role Knowledge of construction billing processes, including AIA billing preferred Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance documentation Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Proficiency in accounting and construction management software Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Comprehensive benefits package Stable pipeline of work with a reputable contractor Opportunity for long-term growth and advancement If you are looking to join a collaborative team and play a critical role in the financial success of construction projects, we encourage you to apply.
