This role will support all accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), job cost tracking, and financial reporting . The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction accounting , strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist accounts payable (AP) , ensuring vendor invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner, including subcontractor payments and lien waivers. Support accounts receivable (AR) by preparing client invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances. Assist with job costing by tracking project expenses, coding invoices to the correct job, and ensuring accuracy in project financials. Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations . Assist with month-end and year-end close processes , including journal entries and financial statement preparation. Support budgeting and forecasting for projects and overall company financials. Maintain compliance with construction contracts, AIA billing, and retainage tracking . Work closely with project managers to ensure financial accuracy of projects. Assist with audit preparation and reporting as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and construction industry accounting regulations .
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred). 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, renovation, or real estate . Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., BuilderTrend, QuickBooks, Procore, Sage 300, or Foundation). Strong understanding of job costing, AIA billing, and retainage tracking . High attention to detail and strong analytical skills . Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in multifamily construction or renovation accounting . Familiarity with ERP systems and construction management platforms . CPA or working towards certification (a plus).
