Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to take ownership of our financial reporting and general ledger operations. You'll be the "bridge" between raw data and actionable financial insights, ensuring our books are airtight and our processes are scalable. This isn't just about data entry; it's about analyzing trends, improving internal controls, and supporting the strategic growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting:
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with GAAP.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely and discrepancies are resolved.
Cost Accounting:
Analyze, record, & report on costs associated with company's production, inventory, and operations to maximize profitability. (Standard costs, variance analysis, etc.)
Fixed Assets & Inventory:
Maintain the fixed asset ledger, depreciation schedules, and oversee inventory accounting/valuation where applicable.
Tax & Compliance:
Assist with local, state, and federal tax filings, sales tax reporting, and coordinate with external auditors for year-end reviews.
Process Improvement:
Identify bottlenecks in the accounting cycle and implement automated solutions or tighter internal controls to increase efficiency.
Mentorship:
Provide guidance and review the work of Junior Accountants or AP/AR clerks to ensure accuracy and professional development.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Macros) and hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Sage, or QuickBooks Enterprise).
Compliance:
Strong working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Preferred "Bonus" Qualities CPA or CMA certification (active or in progress). Experience in manufacturing. Public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-tier firms).
