Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join an organization in Sioux City, IA. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will drive accurate financial insights and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial operations, trends, and obligations to forecast future revenues and expenses.
- Prepare and maintain budgets, comparing actual costs against projections to identify variances.
- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of financial records and transaction entries.
- Generate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Advise management on resource allocation, budget assumptions, and tax strategies.
- Develop and refine accounting systems for budgeting, cost tracking, and tax compliance.
- Compute taxes owed and ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax-related documents.
- Conduct audits of contracts and financial transactions to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive chart of accounts.
- Adapt accounting processes to leverage the latest computerized systems for efficiency. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; 3 years with a master's degree.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, tax regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
- Familiarity with bank reconciliations and monthly financial closing processes.
- Ability to analyze complex data, solve problems, and present findings effectively.
- Experience in manufacturing, transportation, or retail industries is a plus.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
