Job Description

The Senior Accountant is a hands-on financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for a growing business. This role combines strategic financial oversight with day-to-day execution, ensuring accurate reporting, strong cash flow management, and operational visibility. This individual will serve as a key business partner to ownership, providing insights into profitability, job costing, and financial performance while helping scale systems and processes to support continued growth. This individual will also help meet customer needs, in line with company's philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & Close Process
  • Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
  • Prepare financial reporting for lenders, including covenant tracking 2. Job Costing, WIP & Inventory
  • Oversee job costing and ensure accurate tracking of project profitability
  • Maintain and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
  • Monitor inventory valuation, usage, and controls
  • Partner with operations to improve costing accuracy and margin visibility 3. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and daily cash position
  • Optimize use of line of credit and banking relationships
  • Oversee AR collections and AP disbursements to maintain cash cycle
  • Identify and implement working capital improvements 4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Lead annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
  • Analyze variances vs. budget and prior periods
  • Provide forward-looking insights on revenue, margins, and expenses
  • Support decision-making on capital investments and pricing 5. Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain internal controls for accounting & financial processes
  • Oversee payroll, insurance, credit cards, ACH payments, and compliance requirements
  • Support external bankers, tax preparers, and auditors 6. Team & Process Leadership
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff (currently AR/AP function)
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Improve efficiency through process optimization and automation
  • Provide training and accountability for accounting accuracy and timeliness 7. Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain and optimize accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks or ERP)
  • Evaluate and implement system improvements or upgrades as needed
  • Leverage Excel and reporting tools to enhance financial visibility
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across financial data 8. Other Duties as Assigned
  • Assist with Payroll and HR as needed
  • Participate in regular management meetings Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or job-costing environments preferred
  • Experience in small to mid-sized businesses ($5M-$20M revenue) strongly preferred Core Competencies
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capability
  • Experience with job costing, WIP accounting, and inventory
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically (hands-on)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with non-financial stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and accountability

Pay:
$80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
