Job Description

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline
Required Experience:
  • Proficiency with MS Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Engaged and motivated attitude
  • Ability to interface with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
Preferred Experience:
  • 1-2 years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within a broker-dealer, insurance brokerage, or financial services environment
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant I performs critical cash application and reconciliation functions within a broker-dealer environment, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate commission processing, maintain financial records, and support audit and compliance activities.

Job Duties
  • Clear unapplied or unidentified cash
  • Apply fees and commission payments in the internal system
  • Maintain a database of carriers, carrier contacts, client names, account numbers, and policy numbers to support efficient commission processing
  • Follow up on changes to the broker of record with providers
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify and correct reconciliation issues between internal systems
  • Prepare posting reconciliation between bank receipts and cash postings to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Respond to audit requests from FINRA, SEC, and internal audit teams
  • Support revenue reporting and investigation of missing commissions
  • Convert new businesses and acquisitions onto the company platform
