Senior Corporate Accountant (Manufacturing and R&D environment experience preferred)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Corporate Accountant to lead our Chicago-based accounting and sales tax operations. You will be responsible for overseeing daily corporate accounting, managing large-scale sales tax filings, and handling critical banking and security matters. A key part of this role involves managing specific accounting tasks for products developed, following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities:

R&D Lab Accounting:

Manage end-to-end accounting for products and services developed by the CT Lab.

This includes:

Coordinating the inventory transfer of raw materials between warehouses Creating and approving R&D-specific documents in NetSuite, such as Purchase Orders , Inbound Orders , and Sales Orders Overseeing inventory adjustments for "Specified Product to Raw Material" conversions and subpackaging work orders. Monitoring the inbound process for finished R&D products and ensuring accurate cost tracking (including consumable, waste, and labor costs).

Sales Tax Compliance:

Lead sales tax filings for our corporate entities, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions and handling large-scale reporting requirements.

General Accounting Operations:

Manage daily corporate accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), and ensure accurate month-end closing.

Banking and Treasury:

Oversee corporate banking matters, including opening and maintaining accounts, managing security-related protocols, and coordinating with financial institutions.

Team Leadership:

Lead the accounting and sales tax team, providing guidance and ensuring the accurate execution of all financial tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred, but not mandatory Proven experience in corporate accounting (AR, AP, and General Ledger). Demonstrated expertise in sales tax filings for large corporations. Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably NetSuite. Experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment is highly preferred. Experience using sales tax filing software such as Avalara for sales tax compliance and filing purposes Experience working with external big accounting firms for annual tax filing and audit purposes Strong understanding of banking operations and security.
