Senior Accounting Specialist Craig Industries, Inc., a growing manufacturer in the building materials industry, is seeking to hire a Senior Accounting Specialist. The primary responsibility of this role is to support and oversee daily accounting operations with a strong emphasis on a hybrid accounts payable and accounts receivable function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and cross-functional support across the accounting department. Essential Functions of the
Senior Accounting Specialist:
Supporting and maintaining all customer accounts and credit, including monitoring aging reports and resolving discrepancies; Supporting both accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, shifting priorities as business needs require; Processing, reviewing, and reconciling AR and AP transactions for accuracy and completeness; Supporting invoicing on a purchase order-based system and ensuring timely and accurate billing; Processing vendor invoices, payments, and maintaining strong vendor relationships; Maintaining and auditing accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices; Processing, reviewing, and tracking freight invoices and related expenses; Assisting with and reviewing the preparation of sales tax, use tax, and 1099 filings; Performing account reconciliations and leading portions of the month-end and year-end close processes; Identifying and implementing process improvements across both AP and AR workflows; Supporting audits and providing documentation and analysis as needed; Collaborating with internal departments (sales, operations, purchasing) to ensure accurate financial reporting and issue resolution; Special Accounting projects assigned by Accounting Manager as needed. Compensation package includes a competitive base salary with health, dental, vision, 401K, and additional benefits. Requirements:
Specialized Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience); 3-5+ years of accounting experience, with hands-on experience in both AP and AR required; Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes; Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; Ability to work independently while managing shifting priorities between AP and AR responsibilities; High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills; Strong communication and problem-solving abilities; Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or Amazon Seller Central is a plus, but not required; The successful candidate must be flexible, self-motivated, and able to adapt to changing priorities while supporting both sides of the accounting function. This individual should be organized, resourceful, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
