Under the direction of the Executive Director, this individual will perform complex accounting activities within the finance department and HR department of the organization by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate staff members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, payroll, and/or human resources. Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports. Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures. Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies. Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues. Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls. Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems. Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. Reviews financial statements with Executive Director and Board Treasurer. Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls. Reviews and stays up to date on all HR laws and regulations. Acts as a consultant to the Executive Director when HR laws affect the agency. Delegates essential HR functions to Bookkeeper and/or Receptionist when appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two employees in the Business Office;
Bookkeeper and Receptionist Minimum Qualifications :
Must be at least 21 years of age and pass DCFS background check. Requires bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; knowledge, skill, and experience in business administration and accounting with 2-4 years of technical accounting experience. Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and business practices preferred.
