Job Description
Indiana Finance Company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will support daily accounting operations by assisting with accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting and compliance activities. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting knowledge and develop a strong foundation in corporate finance and accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports accurately and timely. Prepare and issue customer invoices. Monitor accounts payable and receivable balances and assist with collections as needed. Maintain organized records of all transactions and supporting documentation. General Ledger & Journal Entries Record daily financial transactions in accounting software. Prepare and post journal entries. Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Reconciliation Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts. Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies. Ensure financial data accuracy and completeness. Financial Reporting Support Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes. Compile financial data and generate reports for management review. Compliance & Auditing Maintain financial documentation and records for audit purposes. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and financial regulations. Assist with internal and external audit requests.Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred. Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Preferred Skills:
Experience with accounting software systems. Knowledge of GAAP principles. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Work Environment:
