Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Portage, Indiana. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and values precision and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports, tax returns, and assist in closing processes for month-end and year-end.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations while supporting internal and external audit procedures.
• Collaborate on the development and analysis of annual budgets and financial projections.
• Respond to inquiries from clients, manage invoices, and maintain organized documentation for financial transactions.
• Support corporate tax-related activities, including preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
• Conduct thorough reviews of journal entries to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial policies.
• Monitor and manage sales tax processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Assist in identifying areas to improve efficiency within accounting procedures and systems.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and best practices to enhance financial operations.

Salary:

$80,000-$100,000

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of accounting experience for entry-level roles; 3-5 years preferred for advanced positions.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems and strong knowledge of general ledger functions.
• Solid understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial documents and processes.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills to interpret financial data effectively.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and presenting findings.
• Ability to adapt to changes in accounting standards and implement best practices proactively.
