Job Description

Description We are looking for a Revenue Accountant to join our team in Leawood, Kansas and help ensure revenue activity is recorded accurately, consistently, and in accordance with accounting guidance. This position plays an important role in the close process, account analysis, and financial reporting, while working closely with internal partners to evaluate contract terms and resolve reporting issues. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting, sharp analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision.
Responsibilities:
  • Record and review revenue-related journal entries to support accurate financial results and compliance with company accounting practices.
  • Evaluate customer agreements to determine the proper accounting treatment for revenue transactions under applicable standards.
  • Perform reconciliations for revenue accounts in the general ledger and investigate unusual balances or period-to-period fluctuations.
  • Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing schedules and completing revenue accounting tasks on time.
  • Analyze deferred and accrued revenue balances to confirm completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation used for financial statements, audit requests, and internal reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with teams across billing, sales, legal, operations, and finance to address discrepancies and improve the accuracy of revenue reporting.
  • Track contract updates, pricing adjustments, and other business changes that could affect revenue recognition outcomes.
  • Strengthen accounting processes by helping refine controls, maintain documentation, and support compliance requirements.
  • Research accounting questions, assist with policy updates, and provide ad hoc revenue analysis for management. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience, including exposure to revenue-focused responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting close processes, preparing reconciliations, and contributing to financial reporting activities.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve problems, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
