Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Overland Park, Kansas on a Contract basis. This position supports core accounting operations with a focus on financial close activities, account analysis, reconciliations, and project-related accounting review. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, sharp attention to detail, and advanced spreadsheet skills to manage a high volume of financial data accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage month-end close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely completion of reporting deadlines.
  • Perform detailed general ledger analysis and reconcile accounts to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and adjustment entries in support of routine accounting operations.
  • Review invoices against related equipment or project records to verify proper application and financial treatment.
  • Investigate outstanding purchase orders, determine the cause of open items, and support efforts to bring records to closure.
  • Conduct bank and account reconciliations while researching variances and documenting resolutions.
  • Provide project close-out accounting support through analysis, tracking, and cleanup of incomplete financial items.
  • Use Excel extensively to organize data, identify trends, and produce clear accounting support for decision-making.
  • Assist with additional accounting assignments as needed to support departmental priorities and reporting needs.
