Accounting Intern - Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our team in the construction industry. This position offers hands-on experience supporting the accounting team with daily tasks while learning construction-specific financial practices such as job cost tracking and subcontractor payments. This is a great opportunity for someone pursuing a degree in accounting or finance who wants real-world experience in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with accounts payable, including invoice entry and tracking subcontractor payments. Support employee purchasing card tracking and documentation. Help with basic accounting tasks such as data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Assist with maintaining job cost records and organizing project-related financial data. Support the accounting team with month-end close activities. Help prepare reports and gather data for audits and tax preparation. Assist with process improvement projects and system updates, including ERP-related tasks.
Education, Experience, & Skills:
Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Basic understanding of accounting principles (through coursework or prior internship). Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Organized and able to manage multiple tasks. Comfortable working with Excel and learning new software systems. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Preferred (but not required): Interest in construction accounting or job costing. Experience with accounting or project management software (e.g., Procore, GCPay, or similar). Previous internship or part-time accounting experience.
