The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting to support and lead key aspects of the company's financial reporting and close processes. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of GAAP‑compliant financial statements while supporting executive reporting, audits, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled accounting professional with strong analytical abilities, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.Overview:
The Senior Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting, plays a critical role in the company's monthly and quarterly financial close and reporting cycles. This position performs advanced accounting, reconciliation, and analysis activities and serves as a trusted business partner across departments. In addition to technical accounting responsibilities, the role provides guidance to staff‑level accountants, supports audit and reporting requirements, and actively contributes to improving financial reporting processes and controls. A Day in theLife:
Lead and perform critical components of the monthly and quarterly financial close process Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and related financial reports in accordance with GAAP Perform flux and variance analysis and investigate fluctuations in financial results Assist with preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packages for executive management Perform complex account reconciliations and detailed balance sheet reviews Analyze and resolve reconciling items, discrepancies, and unusual transactions Review journal entries and account analyses prepared by staff level accountants Serve as a key liaison for external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and audit responses Support external financial reporting requirements and year-end reporting activities Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, accuracy, and controls Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to developing accounting team members Support other accounting and finance initiatives as neededQualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Strong experience with month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial informationBenefits & Culture:
