Full Job Description Summary:
As part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, the accountant, under the guidance of the Controller, is responsible for assisting in the general financial operations and functions of the Food Bank.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and process manual and electronic vendor payments in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain accounts payable records for vendors L-Z, including obtaining W-9 forms for new vendors, setting up vendor records in the accounting system, and ensuring vendor information remains accurate and up to date. Research electronic bank deposits and, when necessary, submit supporting information to the Development Department for entry and reconciliation in NetSuite (FRU). Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting documentation. Process remote deposits on a daily basis. Reconcile deposits in NetSuite to transactions synchronized from Salesforce. Compile and submit monthly operational reports. Assist with the preparation of documentation, and other requests related to the annual audit. Generate and submit the outstanding purchase order report for vendors L-Z to management for review. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Accounting Department, other organizational departments, and the mission of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
As a part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, all employees play an essential role and are expected to: Demonstrate and encourage a professional and positive attitude in all job-related activities. The ability to take initiatives to resolve issues. Accomplish all work activities in a safe and timely manner within assigned time frames. Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety. Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description. All Food Bank employees are considered critical first responders during emergency events (hurricanes, pandemics, etc.). This will require extreme flexibility of work schedule and hours during such events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in accounting or related field with 2 years of experience in the accounting function Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles, accounting terminology and internal controls. Knowledge of auditing practices and principles. Advanced working knowledge of excel. Highly collaborative style with attention to detail. Comfortable in an environment where multi-tasking and time management is necessary for success; capable of working under pressure and willing to work with deadlines. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all departments. Self-starter and able to work independently; enjoy creating and implementing new initiatives.
