EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform accurate maintenance and financial reporting for assigned accounts, services, funds, and/or cost centers of the Parish. Employees in this classification are responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate recording and reporting of financial activities for an assigned area. Work areas include, but are not necessarily limited to, grants, fixed assets, budgets, general and subsidiary ledgers, debt service, special revenues, capital outlay, and the general fund. Incumbents ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, generally accepted accounting principles, and approved policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring fiscal compliance with all funding sources as assigned. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

For the current vacancy in Jefferson Community Action Programs, the Accountant II performs accurate maintenance and financial reporting for assigned accounts, services and funds for the community centers, community services, and Head Start Centers. This position works closely with the Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Management Specialist IV and Administrative Management Specialist III to maintain the organizational finance system in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Employee is responsible for the fiscal functions related to Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)/Community Services funding. This position will effectively track all funds received by the agency and process all accounts payable and receivable. The accountant will also ensure fiscal integrity and compliance with Performance Standards and OMB circulars through the implementation of sound internal controls and adherence with fiscal policies and procedures.
