Jobs › Amesbury, MA › Staff Accountant Robert Half Staff Accountant Amesbury, MA Apply Description We are partnering with a reputable firm in Amesbury, Massachuetts looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in a contract role with permanent potential. This position will support core accounting operations, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and help maintain compliance across daily and monthly processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a careful approach to reconciliations and entries, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate financial records and timely reporting.
- Maintain general ledger activity and review account balances to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Handle fixed asset accounting, including tracking additions, disposals, depreciation, and related reconciliations.
- Support month-end close by recording accruals, analyzing variances, and completing assigned closing tasks on schedule.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Assist with sales and use tax reporting by compiling data, preparing filings, and supporting compliance requirements.
- Contribute to revenue recognition activities in accordance with established accounting policies and reporting standards.
- Process accounts payable transactions and help ensure invoices are recorded and paid accurately and on time Requirements
- Experience preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment.
- Knowledge of fixed asset accounting and related month-end processes.
- Understanding of bank reconciliations, accruals, and account analysis.
- Familiarity with sales and use tax reporting and basic revenue recognition principles.
- Ability to manage accounts payable responsibilities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize deadlines in a contract setting.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial reporting and reconciliation.
