Job Description
The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Operational Accountant for a consulting opportunity supporting a leading university environment in Boston, MA. This role focuses on fixed assets, capital projects, financial reporting, and Workday Finance support within a collaborative and fast-paced accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with experience in capital assets, financial analysis, and ERP systems who enjoys working cross-functionally with multiple departments and stakeholders. What You'll Do Fixed Assets & Capital Projects Manage the full lifecycle of capital assets within Workday and related systems Review and identify capital purchases from: Requisitions Purchase orders Invoices Change orders Assign and verify accounting information including: Spend categories Worktags Asset locations Depreciable life Asset descriptions Process asset accounting transactions including: Cost adjustments Transfers Reclassifications Impairments Reinstatements Disposals Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and reconcile financial reports and asset-related reporting Support management reporting and external audit requests Assist with preparation of financial statements and annual audit activities Analyze large volumes of financial and operational data with accuracy and attention to detail Workday & Cross-Functional Support Serve as a Workday Finance subject matter expert for university stakeholders Track CIP (Construction in Progress) phases and coordinate capitalization activities Maintain the Capital Project Workbench in partnership with facilities and operations teams Participate in weekly PP&E status meetings and support ongoing team initiatives Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, operations, and facilities teams Team Support & Operations Supervise co-op and part-time student staff Support hiring, onboarding, training, and regular team check-ins Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and operational best practices Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Experience in operational accounting, fixed assets, or capital project accounting Strong financial reporting and reconciliation experience Ability to manage and analyze large data sets with high attention to detail Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience Preferred Qualifications Workday Finance experience strongly preferred Higher education or university accounting experience Grant accounting or grant management experience Experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation Experience with fixed asset accounting and PP&E processes What Makes You Stand Out Strong understanding of capital asset lifecycle management Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders Excellent analytical and organizational skills Comfortable balancing independent work with collaborative teamwork Self-motivated and detail-oriented approach Pay up to $40 per hour DOE #ZRPROF #INDPROF
