Schedule:
Monday-Friday | First Shift | 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Position Overview A large educational organization is seeking an experienced Operational Accountant to support financial operations related to capital assets and fixed asset accounting. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting asset lifecycle management, preparing reports, and assisting with audit and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, experience working within ERP systems, and the ability to manage multiple financial processes in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Review and assign accounting details for capital asset records, including spend categories, locations, useful life classifications, and supporting documentation Analyze purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and change requests to identify capital expenditures and ensure compliance with internal accounting policies Process asset-related accounting transactions including transfers, adjustments, disposals, reclassifications, impairments, and reinstatements Track construction and project-related asset activity and coordinate capitalization processes within the financial system Maintain accurate records related to fixed assets and capital projects Prepare, reconcile, and analyze financial reports from accounting and general ledger systems for leadership and audit purposes Support annual audit activities and assist with preparation of financial statements Participate in department meetings and contribute to operational process improvements and documentation updates Provide guidance and support to student and temporary staff members, including training and oversight responsibilities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Experience with fixed asset accounting, capital projects, or operational accounting functions Familiarity with ERP or financial management systems such as Workday strongly preferred Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Experience supporting audits and preparing reconciliations preferred
