Job Description

Metropolitan Properties Inc was founded in 1980, but our heritage of real estate investment and management expertise goes back over 100 years and three generations. Metropolitan Properties Inc is committed to setting the standard for outstanding service and efficiency in the markets it serves. We are based in downtown Boston and looking for the right individual to fit this key role of Property Accountant. You will report directly to the CFO. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to be a part of a dynamic and growing company. This role will handle day to day entries, complete bank reconciliations, work with accounts receivables and payables team members, prepare financial statements, and assist the CFO with additional projects required to maintain the accounting books.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete timely, accurate bank reconciliations Reconcile general ledger accounts Perform all month end close procedures Manage and assist in Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable procedures Manage and prepare financial reports Manage and prepare budget and audit work papers Assist in cash management including maintenance of operating accts, reserves, and escrows Assist in preparing external communications for construction requisitions, financial reporting, and other uses as needed
Qualifications:
B.S. Accounting Solid understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, managing monthly closings, and reporting procedures Proficient with Excel and Property Management Accounting Software (Yardi preferred) 3-7 years' experience in Property Management Demonstrated knowledge of real estate accounting principals and procedures Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work with minimum supervision Demonstrates ability to preserve confidentiality of information Team player with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work collaboratively across departments This is a Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
