Jobs › Boston, MA › Sr. Accountant Robert Half Sr. Accountant Boston, MA Apply Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support complex accounting operations for a large, multi-department organization in Boston, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, works confidently with high-volume financial data, and brings a strong foundation in general ledger activity and month-end close. The role will focus heavily on reconciliations, journal entries, prepaid and deferred revenue, and accounting support related to gifts and endowments.
Responsibilities:
Manage core general ledger activities, including preparing and posting journal entries and supporting accurate month-end close processes.
Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner.
Maintain accounting for prepaid expenses and deferred revenue while ensuring balances are properly recorded and supported.
Provide financial oversight for gift and endowment-related transactions and help ensure accurate reporting in these areas.
Analyze large volumes of financial information across numerous cost centers, spending categories, and revenue streams.
Work within an enterprise-level ERP platform to review transactions, maintain data accuracy, and support accounting workflows.
Prepare organized supporting schedules and documentation that strengthen audit readiness and internal financial controls.
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders while independently managing priorities in a fast-paced accounting function. Requirements
At least 3 years of experience in accounting or financial operations.
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, debits and credits, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
Proven experience completing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
Advanced Excel skills, including hands-on use of pivot tables for analysis and reporting.
Experience working with large ERP systems; familiarity with Workday is preferred.
Ability to handle large data sets, stay organized, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Background in nonprofit accounting or exposure to gift and endowment accounting is preferred.
