AMERICAN BUILDING WRECKERS
Senior Accounting & Administrative Specialist | Full-Time | Exempt, Salaried | Benefited About the Role American Building Wreckers is a leading asbestos abatement, demolition, and hazardous materials remediation contractor serving municipalities, government agencies, and universities throughout New England. We are seeking an experienced, detail-driven accounting professional to own our union payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions, and to manage company tax reporting and filing along with the broad range of administrative responsibilities that follow the payroll cycle. This is a key position on a close-knit team where accuracy, ownership, and initiative directly support field operations and the company's continued growth. Key Responsibilities Manage the full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles, including invoice processing, vendor and subcontractor payments, billing, collections, and account reconciliation. Perform post-payroll administrative and accounting tasks, ensuring entries, allocations, and supporting records are accurate and timely. Support union reporting, prevailing wage, and zone rate documentation as needed across multi-state projects. Identify process gaps and proactively recommend and implement solutions that improve accuracy and efficiency. Provide general administrative support to the office as priorities require. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong hands-on expertise. Very strong computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong administrative and organizational skills with proven attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to not only contribute as a team player but to independently identify and solve problems. Ability to manage multiple priorities accurately under deadline. Preferred Qualifications Spanish-speaking ability (helpful but not required). Exposure to union wages, prevailing wage, and zone rates. Experience in construction, environmental, or a related field-services industry.
