Job Description

We are looking for a Mutual Fund Accountant to support investment accounting activities for a long-term contract opportunity based in Bethesda, Maryland. This position is well suited for someone who is detail oriented and has experience in private market investing, with the ability to interpret investment-related documentation and maintain accurate financial records. The role will contribute to daily and periodic accounting processes while helping ensure reporting quality, control adherence, and operational accuracy within a financial services environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage accounting records for mutual fund and investment activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
  • Review private market investment documents and apply their terms to accounting treatment, reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Reconcile cash movements, portfolio activity, and related balances to support complete and reliable financial data.
  • Monitor bond activity, corporate actions, and other investment events to ensure timely processing and proper accounting impact.
  • Use accounting platforms and financial tools to analyze data, investigate discrepancies, and support ongoing operational needs.
  • Assist with compliance-focused processes by maintaining documentation and helping align accounting activities with established controls.
  • Prepare and support periodic reports, account analyses, and financial schedules required by internal stakeholders or clients.
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to resolve exceptions, improve workflow accuracy, and support changes affecting investment accounting processes.
