Position Objective:
The staff accountant will work under the guidance of experienced professionals on audit engagements. Initially this individual will assist in the audit of selected financial statement accounts, document accounting systems and internal controls, prepare appropriate audit work papers, and assist in the preparation of financial statements and management letters. The staff accountant will support performance, compliance, financial, internal, and quality assurance audits. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Work with a team of professionals on audit engagements and work closely with supervisors, managers, and partners in the audit process Provide support on engagements and communicate effectively and timely Demonstrate strong research skills and ability to problem solve Provide quality audit support services in accordance with the relevant regulations, government regulations, and client policies and procedures Proof financial statements, audit reports and other documents under Senior Accountant supervision Other duties as assigned This position is also expected to: Meet challenging client requirements with superior customer service Continuously learn and model inclusive behavior; respectfully address diverse customer service needs Report hours in a timely and error free manner Maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; multi-task and meet or exceed deadlines Possess excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and recommendations to clients in matters pertaining to the audit Exhibit integrity, dependability and trustworthiness; ability to maintain confidentiality Detail oriented and well organized
Requirements:
Qualifications and Educational Requirements BA/BS in accounting from accredited college/university Minimum of two (2) years of audit experience in public accounting Non-Profit experience Active pursuit of CPA license Proficiency with MS Office Suite Preferred Skills Advanced accounting degree Job Requirements Able to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment) Speak fluent English in order to communicate with other employees and clients verbally and in writing Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment Remain in sedentary position for long periods of time; however, needs the ability to move around the office to access office equipment, attend meetings, etc. Frequent communication with others and clients regarding projects and work product Available to work moderate overtime throughout the year with heavier overtime requirements during busy seasons
