Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accountant to support construction-focused accounting operations for a Contract position based in Rockville, Maryland. This opportunity is ideal for someone who understands project-based financial processes and can manage core accounting activities with accuracy and consistency. The role requires hands-on knowledge of contractor accounting practices, especially within environments serving government or public sector projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activity across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and project cost tracking for construction-related work.
- Prepare and post journal entries, maintain accurate financial records, and support timely period-end close activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Use Sage 300 Timberline to process transactions, review account activity, and monitor job-level financial performance.
- Support accounting functions tied to contractor and public works projects, helping maintain compliance with established financial procedures.
- Review payment and billing records for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding within the accounting system.
