Job Description

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting's client is seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Project Accountant to support financial management across multiple construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring accurate job costing, timely billing, and reliable project financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction industry experience and a solid understanding of project accounting processes. Construction industry experience is required , along with strong knowledge of job costing principles. Key Responsibilities Manage project accounting for multiple construction projects simultaneously Perform detailed job costing, cost tracking, and variance analysis Handle project setup, including budgets, cost codes, and contract documentation Prepare monthly AIA billing and support all project billing activities Assist with developing and updating project budgets and forecasts Work closely with project managers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Review and reconcile project expenses, subcontractor billings, and change orders Support month-end close activities related to project financials Provide documentation and analysis for internal and external audits Monitor compliance with accounting policies, project controls, and contract requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 3+ years of project accounting experience in the construction industry (required) Strong understanding of job costing , cost accounting, and project financial cycles Experience with AIA billing formats and construction billing processes CPA certification a plus Strong analytical and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, Procore, or similar) Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment IND4
