Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant - Wheaton, MD Overview Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Beltsville, MD in their search for a Staff Accountant to join their team. This fully onsite role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Construction industry experience is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Perform account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job cost accounting functions as needed. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting. Analyze financial data and support budgeting and variance analysis activities. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies. Support audit processes by preparing schedules and responding to requests. Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to support accounting operations and reporting needs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Construction industry or job cost accounting experience preferred. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems preferred. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
