The Aroostook Agency on Aging is looking for a highly motivated, analytical, and team-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, and values being part of a collaborative team that supports an important mission. We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, technology savvy, and comfortable working with a variety of financial systems and software programs. The right candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, excellent people skills, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically while managing confidential information with integrity. What You'll Do Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Complete monthly bank reconciliations and general journal entries Assist with grant reporting and audit preparation Support payroll processing as needed Research issues, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions Work with accounting, fundraising, and operational software systems Provide support and backup to the Director of Finance Help train and guide team members on financial processes and procedures What We're Looking For Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency Excellent organizational and time management skills Comfort learning and navigating various software systems Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Someone who works well independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent education and related experience required Minimum of three years of professional accounting experience preferred Non-profit accounting experience preferred Experience with computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets required Benefits 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday) Paid holidays and generous Paid Time Off (PTO) Health insurance Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Short-Term Disability (STD) Life insurance Vision and dental insurance 403(b) retirement plan We are an equal opportunity employer and service provider.
