About the job:
We are seeking a meticulous and results-driven Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the general accounting functions of the organization, including preparing and maintaining financial records, overseeing accounts payable/receivable, and supporting monthly closing and reporting processes. This position will collaborate closely with the VP of Finance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial data and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
General accounting: Reconcile and analyze all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain the fixed assets ledger and associated depreciation schedules. Prepare and post general ledger journal entries, ensuring proper classification and compliance with accounting standards. Financial reporting & analysis: Review and analyze monthly income statements and balance sheets for multiple locations to identify trends and discrepancies. Assist in the preparation and filing of Sales and Use Tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations. Support internal and external financial reporting efforts by providing accurate and timely information. Accounts payable & receivable: Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure proper recording and timely payments. Support and maintain revenue recognition processes in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606), ensuring revenue is recorded accurately and in the proper period. Review and reconcile deferred revenue Audit & compliance: Assist with audit preparation by providing documentation and supporting information as required by external auditors. Support internal reviews and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Other accounting support:
Perform additional accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as needed to support the Controller and the overall finance team.
Key qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in general ledger accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Must have proficiency in the use of ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAGE Intaact) and solid working knowledge of accounting software and applications. Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other complex functions. Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Possess exceptional organizational, time management, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information with professionalism and integrity. Excellent communication skills with a positive attitude.
