ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have a full time opening for a COGS Analyst / General Accountant. The COGS Analyst is responsible for analyzing, controlling, and optimizing the cost of food, beverage, and packaging across restaurant operations. This role partners closely with Culinary, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure accurate cost reporting, identify waste and variance drivers, and support margin improvement initiatives at the store and corporate level. This role will also assist with month-end close and various balance sheet reconciliations. Key Responsibilities Analyze food and beverage COGS, including ingredients, beverages, paper goods, and packaging. Prepare weekly and monthly COGS reports by location, concept, and menu category. Perform variance analysis on theoretical vs. actual food and beverage costs. Monitor inventory levels, usage, spoilage, waste, and shrink. Support recipe costing, menu pricing, and margin analysis in partnership with Culinary and Operations. Manage items and menus within the accounting system for all sites. Assist with inventory counts, reconciliations, and COGS-related journal entries. Track vendor pricing changes and assess impact on margins. Work with vendors to develop positive relationships and contract pricing strategies. Identify cost control opportunities and operational inefficiencies. Support new store openings, menu launches, and promotions from a cost perspective. Prepare clear insights and recommendations for Operations leadership. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for month end close Assist with projects as needed Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Hospitality Management, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in restaurant finance, cost control, or food & beverage analysis. Strong understanding of restaurant COGS drivers (food cost %, beverage cost %, yield, waste). Advanced Excel skills; experience with POS and inventory systems (e.g., Toast, Aloha, Micros, Restaurant365). High attention to detail with the ability to work in fast-paced environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multi-unit or enterprise restaurant operations. Familiarity with recipe management and menu engineering tools. Experience with Restaurant365, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems. Hospitality certifications a plus. Current knowledge and experience with GAAP. Familiarity with accounting procedures and processes with a high degree of accuracy. Proficient in all Microsoft programs. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to identify areas and make recommendations for improvements on existing processes. Reliable and consistent on-site work presence. Ability to work with executives, managers and staff within all sites. Ability to work independently. Effectively manage competing priorities. Ability to manage projects effectively and efficiently. Exhibit a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Comply with our employment handbook and internal procedures, policies and controls.
