Job Description:
Mission Waséyabek Development Company, LLC (WDC) is a legal entity, created and wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP), a federally recognized Indian Tribe. WDC is committed to fostering the development of a stable, diversified economy for members of the Band which will contribute to their long-term wealth and economic self-sufficiency, while managing risk and creating quality employment opportunities. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to support a short-term financial reporting project. This is a 40 hour per week position expected to last approximately 8 weeks. The individual in this role will assist with tracking financial information, preparing and submitting reports to government departments, and maintaining accurate records using Excel and other tracking tools. Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Track, organize, and maintain financial reporting data
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to government departments
  • Review information for accuracy and completeness
  • Use Microsoft Excel to manage spreadsheets, data tracking, and reporting
  • Conduct basic research and fact-finding to support reporting requirements
  • Follow established procedures and timelines for report submissions
  • Communicate with internal team members regarding missing or incomplete information
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants must possess any education, training or experience necessary to perform all essential duties and responsibilities associated with the position. Education, training and experience indicative of an individual's ability to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Experience or college coursework in finance or accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize information and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience preparing accurate financial reports or working with financial data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to personal and professional financial history, nationwide criminal record search, credit check, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WDC.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the escheatment process
  • Experience submitting financial reports to government agencies
  • Prior knowledge or experience working with a Native American Tribe.
